4 May 2009
Again, I set my alarm with the best of intentions of rousing Mr Seuen at the crack of dawn and heading back out to Angkor Wat to watch the sunrise. However, by the 5am alarm I have other ideas, and turn over for a couple more hours of sleep. After a particularly lazy start, I spend the morning exploring Siem Reap before catching my home to Sydney.
I’ve only spent a couple of days here in Cambodia, but I come away enchanted. The people are even more hospitable and welcoming than the Vietnamese (if such a thing were possible) and what little I’ve seen of the country is wonderful. I’m sure we’ll be back.
Epilogue
After this trip, Lynn and I have decided to take a break from Sydney and give Adelaide a fair-go. We’re renting out our home and will spend a few months, or maybe a year or two in South Australia.
This isn’t the end of the travelling however. We’ve loved what we’ve seen of Vietnam and Cambodia and hope to come back, just as soon as the bank balance is topped back up. In fact, I’m considering something a little more adventurous for the next outing - perhaps bike ride in the spirit of Long Way Round. I’m thinking about something along the lines of Singapore to Hanoi.
